its been quite the scene on broadway this past week. yesterday I spent a few hours in front of the neil simon with the picket line supporting the crew whom ive grown to know and love over the past five years. lets hope an amicable conclusion can be found this weekend so broadway can get on its feet again before thanksgiving!

Support BC/EFA during the strike...

Every year at this time, theatres across the country join forces to support Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS with after-show pleas for donations and special merchandise sales. As you know Broadway stagehands are on strike and every week of fundraising lost to the cancelled performances is a loss of over $350,000 to BC/EFA. Last year's GYPSY OF THE YEAR fundraising raised over $3 million. Revenue normally raised from the in-theatre appeals prior to The GYPSY OF THE YEAR Competition makes up over 20% of BC/EFA's annual budget.

Broadway Cares provides support to The AIDS INITIATIVE; The Phyllis Newman WOMEN'S HEALTH INITIATIVE; A FREE HEALTH CLINIC and much more with The Actors Fund - an employee assistance program for the entire entertainment industry. Broadway Cares also makes grants to over 400 AIDS and family service organizations across the country - supporting food banks, health clinics and housing programs across the country.

I have signed up to help BC/EFA in its fundraising efforts, I hope you join me by contributing toward my goal or by joining a team yourself. Its a wonderful organization that has been caught in the middle of the storm.

Remember: What we do together, really does make a difference.

Support Me & Hairspray in the Gypsy of the Year Competition

Best, Christina

It's really sad that Hairspray has only reached literally 1% of their goal. How do you go about giving money to the show for BC/EFA?

Well, Im on the Hairspray team so if you click the link in the post above there will be a link at the top left that says "Support Christina" and it will take you to a page where you can enter in credit card information.

I know some people on this board may be young and may not have their own credit cards, but perhaps if you discuss it with your parents they might agree to a donation, and its totally tax deductible and can be as little as five dollars.

Alternatively, you can join the fundraising efforts like I have, and set up a fundraising page and goal asking your friends and family to donate in your name to the Hairspray team to support BC/EFA.
