I saw Legally Blonde in June, and overall, it was good. I was, however, a little disappointed by the sets, some of the acting, and definitely the sound. First, let's cover the sound. Almost every song had technical problems. In Chip on My Shoulder, for example, I couldn't hear D.B. Bonds (Emmett) singing over the Delta Nus at the end. Also, I couldn't hear D.B. during the overlapping parts of Take it Like a Man. Next, I would like to talk about the sets. Much like most people, I was incredibly disappointed that they couldn't travel with the large Delta Nu house. That was one of my favorite aspects of the Broadway show. The stage was just so empty without it. Some of the magic in the Broadway show was through its sets. Overall, I really did like the show. I really enjoyed Becky Gulsvig. Her singing voice isn't the best I've heard from all of the Elles, but it's good. D.B. really impressed me. He reminded me a lot of Christian Borle. Natalie Joy Johnson was fine as Paulette, but she lacked some of the umph! that Orfeh had. Ken Land was pretty good as Callahan. There were times where I didn't like him, but I liked him at other times. Jeff McLean wasn't the best Warner. He was okay though. I didn't care for Megan Lewis, to be honest. I just missed Kate so much! Tiffany Engen was on as Brooke, and she was just wonderful. I was excited to get to see her in the show. Rhiannon Hansen was good as Margot. She was my favorite from the show, so I enjoyed seeing her. Sara Andreas was understudying for Pilar, and she was kind of annoying. She donned this fake Southern accent, which did not suit the character that well. Cortney Wolfsen was great as Serena. I enjoyed her performance. Ven Daniel was terrific as Dewey/Chad/Kyle, but not as good as Andy Karl, in my opinion.nondisclosed_email@example.com (hairspraydude1962)Thu, 27 Aug 2009 19:57:21 +0000
