did you like Divine?

personally, I like the musical much more than the movie and I prefer more feminine approaches to the character- i feel like Divine plays a drag queen, not a woman.

The old one was ok... I just can't stand Divine! I knew he was a guy the whole time! In the new one, I barely remembered it was John! emoticon

Really? Because I had a hard time trying to forget it was John. Don't get me wrong, I'm a big John Travolta fan, but I was not thrilled when I heard he'd be playing Edna in the new movie. There were definitely some things about his performance that I wasn't crazy about, but overall I felt he did a good job. But the entire time I watched him, all I could think about was "this is John Travolta." He still looked like himself; only he looked as if he'd gained 75 lbs and started dressing in drag haha.

different strokes for different folks. I wasnt that fond of Harvey Fierstein and he won a Tony for the role.

I loved Divine. As a kid I always believed it was a woman. I did not like John Travolta as Edna, and I don't see what was so special about Harvey either. emoticon
