Tonys 2009

so what did everyone think of the tonys?
here are my thoughts:
the opening was fantastic! i loved how they all intertwined together and it sounded awesome. the funniest thing was when brett michaels got hit in the head! im sorry but that was hilarious! so Billy Elliot won best musical, not suprising, but i really think that Next to Normal SHOULD have won. what are you thoughts on that?
also, some sad news Guys and Dolls is closing June 14. i was going to see it the 17th. oh well emoticon

Re: Tonys 2009

I really enjoyed the show.

Next to Normal's performance was, without a doubt, my favorite, and I think it should've won for Best Musical, although I (and everyone else) knew Billy Elliot was going to win.

Another show I knew would win was Hair. I'm not sure why, because West Side Story had a big chance at winning, but before Kristen announced the winner, I just knew it would be Hair.

I loved the opening number. I thought everything flowed nicely, except for the part with Stockard Channing and Aaron Tveit. I thought Aaron's performance was great (as always), but "I'm Alive" and "Bewitched, Bothered, and Bewildered" are not two songs that should be stuck together.

Even though I don't care much for Shrek the Musical, I definitely give Christopher Sieber props for doing eight shows a week on his knees. I don't care who you are; that's pretty impressive.

Neil Patrick Harris did an amazing job hosting. He's great!

Legally Blonde's little performance was disappointing. Don't get me wrong; Becky did great, but it almost seemed like they rushed her to get it done. However, I'm seeing it this Sunday, so I hope it makes up for it.

Last but not least, I loved the closing number written by none other than Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman. I thought it was pretty funny.

hairspraydude, you are going to enjoy legally blonde! i saw it a month ago and Becky blew my mind! saw was AMAZING. they should have made LB longer. Mama Mia was so long, and it wasnt that great of a perforamance!

Yeah, I can't wait until Sunday. emoticon

I know!!! Mamma Mia's performance was pretty terrible. They should've taken half of their time away and given it to Legally Blonde, so we could've at least seen the entire song.

I watched the Tonys!

I loved that Karen Olivo won for Best Featured Actress in a Musical. Love her.
I'm also so happy for the few next to normal and Hair wins! emoticon

I thought the opening was very good. Neil Patrick Harris was a wonderful host and had me in stitches the whole time.

Overall, it was a great show. I also thought that Mamma Mia! was too long and LB was too short.

I noticed that, too, especially in the Next to Normal performance. I thought he was about to kiss Alice at the end. Haha!
